I wouldn't blame ONLY the shows, that's for sure. But you won't deny that some fools and brainless kids will try do perform the stupids stunts just to think that they will become more popular.
Actually, I think it's the Matrix's fault for the roof jumping idea.
Ban The Matrix.

the advent of movies and tv shows and shit just brought a new facet into the whole thing of "doing stupid shit"
why do people always go for either of the extremes while screaming for common sense while doing so?
extreme number one "tv shows and movies do nothing"
extreme number two "tv shows and movies fuck up our kids"
it depends on the individual, how he/she percieves what is being shown and how he/she was brought up.
Parents have responsibility as well as tv shows and movies. The Jackass disclaimer is there for a reason.
fuck generalizations!

I would say Jackass really does have nothing to do with this, as to my mind, stunts like that haven't been done on there. However, I would say that the kids have been reading/listening to something/watching something about free running and assumed that they'll automatically be experts

What if the jumper had actually accomplished what he was trying to do without injury, became famous, and inadvertantly spawned a new generation of extreme stunt-folk that would re-invent live-action movie and television special effects?
Would he still be an idiot?

That part made me seethe. If I were that kid's parents, I wouldn't be trying to squeeze money out of it. Hell, if I ever have kids, and they do something as stupid as that, I will kill them myself and get my tubes tied, because obviously I must've done something wrong to raise such morons.Quote:

I never would've dreamed of doing things like that when I was a teenager. If your kid goes out and takes a flying leap off of an 80 foot high garage, you step back and take a look at your parenting skills, the mental state of your kid, and the people they hang out with. You don't sue the garage owners and demand that they put up fences. Yeah, fences should be there to prevent accidental falls, but not because some little shithead kid decides he's going to be "EXTREEEEEEME!!!!" and try to jump it.
